     We are pleased and excited to announce two very important alliances that mean significant program changes
beginning in the month of June.

     This week we finalized an agreement with Dance Jam Productions and Dave Moldover, the host and DJ of the DC area’s largest weekly West Coast Swing party.  Beginning Friday, June 7 they will host their West Coast Swing group classes and social dances at the Hollywood Ballroom Dance Center and will continue weekly going forward.  We welcome this new change to HBDC, and welcome all of the area’s friendly West Coast Swing dancers to our venue.

     The second program change, which is in final stages of formalized agreement, is to have twice-monthly Saturday night Latin Nights with Mr. Mambo (Tommy Smith).  Beginning Saturday, June 8, their highly successful Salsa Social with Bachata dances will be moving from the DC Dance Collective to the Hollywood Ballroom Dance Center.

     These high-energy groups bring an infusion of youth, enthusiasm and love of dancing to our ballroom.  It is exciting to welcome both groups and wish us all successful alliances.  We anticipate there will be many positive additions to our calendars, our lesson schedules, and lesson/workshop offerings.  We are committed to working together for mutual success and great dancing.

     We fully realize that this change to Friday nights at Hollywood Ballroom may not be regarded as a positive change by all.  We have many long time, loyal dancers who have supported Fridays here for years – some longer than 25 years.  We anticipate and feel their disappointment very keenly, but hope they will come to understand the reasons why we’ve had to make this change, and will adopt other nights to enjoy ballroom dancing in the future.

     Ballroom dancing will continue to be offered on Sundays and Wednesdays, as well as some Saturdays.  We plan to have more special ballroom dances with live bands.  We believe that augmenting our ballroom dance calendar with a variety of dancing strengthens our commitment to having the ballroom’s primary purpose focus on dancing, not private rental events.  While the rentals have helped toward meeting our monthly expenses, we want to reduce them.  They tax our resources, diminish our dance floor, and consume our weekend hours.

     We would like to make this statement directly to our customers: we absolutely will continue to offer ballroom dances and lessons and will continue to support the art we all love and enjoy so much by bringing the very best of ballroom programs to Hollywood Ballroom Dance Center.  We cannot thank you enough for all of the support you have given to ballroom dancing in general and to the Ballroom in particular. Hollywood Ballroom Dance Center would not be here without you. Nor could it be here for future generations of dancers if not for your past and present commitment and support. Although it might be a new night for you, we still look forward to seeing you on the dance floor every week. We would also love to see you on West Coast Swing and Latin nights as we all pick up new moves, learn the latest dances and make new friends.

Enter your userID and password for the website admin panel.

From the dashboard menu on the left, select ” calendar.”

Do not change anything. (No matter how unorganized it looks, it really is very organized.)

Go to the date you want to add an event. Use the date picker on the left upper corner of the page if you need to change months.

Click on an empty white space in the date.

In the popup dialogue box:

Unselect “all day”

Enter any time AFTER 9:50 pm. This is not the actual time of the event, it’s just to organize the events on that day.

Check any ending time you would like, after the starting time.

In the yellow title field, enter the  date, the real time start and end, the name of the event. This is what will show on the calendar.

In the category field, scroll down and select Any of the categories that start with “P-” Anything else will show on the MAIN calendar and not the planning calendar” Please do not select anything else.

Select “update” or “ADD” and the dialog box will close.

Go back to the planning calendar, REFRESH the page, and check that your entry is correct.

Level:		Beginner/intermediate (both dances)
Dance Lessons:		Swing (7:30-8:30 pm)      Learn new figures for this fun “East Coast” dance! Rumba (8:30-9:30 pm) Sultry, expressive, beautiful. Both dances American style.
Program Cycle:		Every Tuesday for 3 weeks
Price:		Single-Dance Program: $30 (for the 3-week program) Two-Dance Program: $45 (for the 3-week program)

Singles & Couples are Welcome!

No partner needed. No previous experience necessary.
Classes are held at the Hollywood Ballroom.
